Nepal Opens Asian Games Campaign with Record-Breaking Win
Nepal opened their Asian Games Men’s Cricket Qualifier 2026 campaign with a huge statement, beating China by 221 runs at the Singapore National Cricket Ground on Sunday. The match turned into a one-sided contest after Nepal produced a record-breaking batting display and then dominated with the ball.

The biggest talking point of the match came from opener Kushal Bhurtel. He delivered one of the most explosive overs in T20 history when he smashed six sixes in a single over against China spinner Chen Zhuo Yue.
The special moment came in the ninth over of Nepal’s innings. Bhurtel attacked from the first ball and sent it over the boundary. He continued the same approach on every delivery of the over.

He timed the ball cleanly, picked the gaps with ease, and cleared the ropes without much effort. The bowler had no answer as each ball disappeared into the stands. By the end of the over, Bhurtel joined an elite list of only a few batters in T20I history to hit six sixes in an over.
Social media also exploded as fans shared clips of the rare moment. Bhurtel did not stop after that over. He continued his aggressive batting and finished with 129 runs from just 43 balls. His innings included 16 sixes and completely broke China’s bowling plans.
Nepal built on Bhurtel’s momentum and kept attacking throughout the innings. Kushal Malla supported him well with an unbeaten 85 off 47 balls. Together, they added a 175-run partnership that pushed China under huge pressure.
Captain Rohit Paudel also joined the attack late in the innings. He scored an unbeaten 69 from just 21 balls and helped Nepal reach a massive total of 313/2 in 20 overs. China’s bowlers struggled throughout the innings and failed to control the run flow.
Chasing 314, China never recovered. Nepal’s bowlers attacked early and kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Sompal Kami and Sandeep Lamichhane led the bowling effort and kept the pressure high.
Bhurtel also made an impact with the ball. He picked up 3 wickets for 0 runs in just 1.2 overs China collapsed for 92 in 19.2 overs as Nepal secured a dominant 221-run win. This victory gave Nepal a perfect start to their campaign.
