Virat Kohli Caps Off Milestone, Becomes IPL’s Most-Capped Player

Virat Kohli entered the record books on May 14, becoming the most capped player in the history of the Indian Premier League. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Kolkata Knight Riders IPL 2026 match at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur is Kohli’s 279th match in the tournament.

He has surpassed the likes of MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, who have competed in 278 games. Dhoni has been a part of the Chennai Super Kings and the Rising Pune Supergiants in the cash-rich league, whereas Rohit has competed for the Deccan Chargers and the Mumbai Indians. Rohit started his IPL journey with Deccan Chargers, and after spending three seasons with the Chargers, he moved to Mumbai in 2011 and has been playing for them.
