Groundbreaking Auction Sees Record-Breaking Signings
The highly anticipated auction unfolded at the Wave International Hotel in Ranchi on Saturday, May 30, drawing attention from across the cricketing community. A comprehensive pool of 275 talented cricketers put their names forward, eager to secure a spot in one of the six pioneering franchises. Each franchise operated under a stringent, equal budget, ensuring a level playing field as they vied for top talent.
In a surprising and record-setting move that captured headlines, Koylanchal Super Kings made the biggest splash of the auction. They successfully acquired the services of dynamic wicketkeeper-batter Robin Minz for an impressive ₹15.25 lakh. This landmark acquisition meant that Not Ishan Kishan! Mumbai Indians star becomes most expensive pick in Jharkhand T, as Minz’s price tag comfortably surpassed that of India international and prominent wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who was secured by Santhal Strikers for ₹14.7 lakh. This significant investment in Minz highlights the franchises’ commitment to nurturing local talent and building formidable teams.
Beyond these headline-grabbing bids, Chota Nagpur Royals demonstrated their intent by making a substantial investment in the promising Virat Singh, signing him for ₹13 lakh. The six franchises – Ranchi Titans, Jamshedpur Steelers, Chota Nagpur Royals, Koylanchal Super Kings, Dhanbad Diamonds, and Santhal Strikers – strategically managed their funds within a strict salary cap of ₹50 lakh. Their approaches varied, balancing the acquisition of established names with the recruitment of emerging talent destined to make an impact.
- Jamshedpur Steelers: Focused on a blend of experience and potential, securing Md. Kounain Quraishi for ₹12.5 lakh and adding the promising Sahil Raj for ₹8.75 lakh.
- Dhanbad Diamonds: Bolstered their bowling attack and batting lineup by signing pacer Sushant Mishra for ₹11 lakh and Pankaj Kumar for ₹10.75 lakh.
- Ranchi Titans: Made significant additions with Shikhar Mohan joining for ₹11 lakh and Rajandeep Singh for ₹9 lakh, signaling their intent to build a strong core.
