India A Squad Announced for Tri-Series: Tilak Varma to Lead, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Makes Debut

Indian selectors have named a strong India A squad for the upcoming tri-series against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, with Tilak Varma appointed as captain and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi making his debut in the team.

Squad Composition

The squad comprises players who are part of the current IPL 2026 season, with Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag named as the deputy. Sooryavanshi has been in great form with the bat, scoring over 400 runs this campaign. The 15-year-old had also scored a century in the RR vs SRH game off just 36 balls, which was his second ton in the league.

Key Players

Punjab Kings openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh have also been named in the squad for the Tri-series. Both the batters have been in great run-scoring form with the bat and have given their good starts so far. Yet another PBKS player in the squad is Suryansh Shedge, who is known for his big-hitting skills with the bat.

Bowling Attack

Anshul Kamboj will be the pace spearhead in the upcoming series. The 25-year-old has been in top form with the ball and has claimed 19 wickets so far this season from 11 games with an economy of 9.2 runs per over. The other pacers in the squad are Mohammad Arshad Khan, Yash Thakur, and Yudhvir Singh Charak.

Squad List

India A squad for SL Tri-Series – Tilak Varma (C), Priyansh Arya, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Riyan Parag (VC), Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Harsh Dubey, Suryansh Shedge, Prabhsimran Singh (WK), Kumar Kushagra (WK), Vipraj Nigam, Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, Anshul Kamboj, Arshad Khan

The tri-series will be hosted by Sri Lanka, with the first match to be played on 9th June and the finals on the 21st. This gives the young batting sensation a chance to show his talents to the selectors and perhaps get selected for the tours of Ireland and England to be played in June and July.
