ICC Punishes Pakistan for Slow Over-Rate, Dashes WTC Final Hopes

The Pakistan national cricket team has suffered a double shock after their humiliating 104-run defeat against the Bangladesh national cricket team in the first Test in Dhaka.

After the loss, the International Cricket Council (ICC) also delivered another brutal blow to the Pakistani team. The ICC has now punished the Pakistan national cricket team for maintaining a slow over-rate during the Dhaka Test against Bangladesh.

Slow Over-Rate Offense

They were found two overs short of the required target after all allowances were taken into account, and the result has turned into a nightmare for the touring side.

The governing body fined the Pakistan players 40% of their match fees. Additionally, the Pakistan national cricket team lost eight crucial ICC World Test Championship (WTC) points after the slow over-rate offense.

Damage to WTC Final Hopes

This penalty has now badly damaged Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the WTC final. The team was already struggling to keep up with the competition, and this latest setback has made their chances of qualifying for the final even slimmer.

The defeat against Bangladesh was a major blow to Pakistan’s chances, and the ICC’s punishment has only added to their woes. The team will have to regroup and come up with a new strategy if they want to salvage their WTC campaign.
