Among these, Category 2 represents the crucial Dhaka club cricket structure. In this category, 12 director positions were available, attracting a highly competitive pool of 16 candidates. Tamim Iqbal Emerges as the Top Vote-Getter

Former Bangladesh national team captain Tamim Iqbal made a resounding impact in the administrative arena by emerging as the top vote-getter in the Category 2 elections. Demonstrating strong support from the club representatives, Tamim secured an impressive 73 votes, comfortably earning his seat on the new BCB board of directors. His transition from an iconic on-field leader to a key administrative figure is viewed as a major milestone, bringing valuable first-hand player experience to the board’s decision-making processes.

Full Breakdown of Elected Directors

The contest for the remaining seats was remarkably close, with several candidates finishing with nearly identical vote counts. Joining Tamim Iqbal at the top of the standings were Sayeed Ibrahim Ahmed and Israfil Khosru, both of whom performed exceptionally well by securing 72 votes each.

Masuduzzaman also secured a strong mandate from the voters, finishing with 70 votes, followed closely by Yasir Mohammed Foysal Ashik (also referred to as Faisal Yasir), who accumulated 68 votes. The middle tier of successful candidates featured Fahim Sinha and Shanian Taneem (also known as Shanian Tanim), who both finished with 66 votes. Sakif Ahmed Salam (also known as Sakif Ahmed) secured 65 votes, while Asif Rabbani collected 64 votes. Mirza Yasser Abbas (also known as Mirza Yasir Abbas) earned his position with 63 votes.

The final two spots on the board were secured by Rafiqul Islam Babu, who received 53 votes, and Professor Dr. Sarkar Mahbub Ahmed Shamim (also known as Dr. Shamim), who secured the twelfth and final seat with 41 votes.

Candidates Who Missed Out

With only 12 seats available for the 16 contesting candidates, four individuals were unable to secure a place on the new board. The competition was so tight that Syed Borhanul Hossain narrowly missed qualification by a single vote, finishing with 40 votes. Amzad Hossain finished his campaign with 32 votes, while Foiyazur Rahman received 23 votes. Major (Retd.) Imroze Ahmed concluded the voting list with 20 votes.
