RCB Backs Jitesh Sharma Despite Poor Form in IPL 2026
RCB Management Backs Jitesh Sharma Despite Lack of Form in IPL 2026
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is all set to face a challenge from the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. As the points table continues to witness significant changes, RCB is aware of the importance of collective efforts from its members to attract wins from every game.
According to Assistant coach Malolan Rangarajan, the team is focused on the present and not distracted by other teams’ performances. “We can all see how the table is panning out, but we can’t be distracted by what’s happening with other teams. We can only focus on what we want to do, and the task we have on our hands as of now is the game against LSG tomorrow,” he mentioned in a press release.
Support for Jitesh Sharma
Among the batters, Virat Kohli, captain Rajat Patidar, Devdutt Padikkal, and Phil Salt have played a significant role so far in the season. However, wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma’s form has been far from expectations. Despite his struggles, the team management has expressed trust in him.
Jitesh’s report card this season reads: 0, DNB, 5, 10, 23, 14, 10, DNB, 1. The middle-order batter, who played a crucial role in RCB’s maiden trophy-winning season in 2025, has been struggling from the beginning of IPL 2026. Malolan Rangarajan discussed Jitesh’s form, saying, “Jitesh is a very sorted individual. He knows it’s not by chance that he’s played for the country and been part of IPL squads for so long. He played an integral part for us last year as well.”
The team has been working with Jitesh in training sessions to help him understand the situations he’s likely to face and how he can impact the game. “The messaging to Jitesh is that he’s very aware of what he can do to help the team in any situation he goes in. That’s all he’s been focusing on, and that’s what we’ve been trying to provide for him in training sessions,” Malolan added.
With the support of the team management, Jitesh Sharma will look to turn his form around and contribute to RCB’s success in the remainder of the IPL 2026 season.
