T20 Blast 2026: Full Squads, New Format, Schedule, and Streaming Details
Introduction to Vitality Blast 2026
The T20 Blast 2026 is officially set to return to the English summer, promising high-octane cricket from May 22 to July 18, 2026. As one of the most historical and entertaining domestic T20 tournaments in the world, the upcoming edition brings significant structural changes, stellar international signings, and a hyper-competitive landscape. Somerset will enter the tournament as the defending champions after their spectacular title-winning run in 2025.
The Revolutionary New Tournament Format
In a major departure from previous editions, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has overhauled the tournament’s structure. Previously, the 18 county teams were split into two large groups of nine. For the 2026 season, the teams have been divided into three groups of six teams each: the North Group, the Central Group, and the South Group.
Under this revised format, each team will play a total of 12 group-stage matches (facing group rivals home and away). The qualification rules have also adjusted to fit this structure: the top two teams from each of the three groups will gain direct entry into the quarter-finals. They will be joined by the two best third-placed teams across all three groups to complete the eight-team knockout bracket.
The highly anticipated quarter-finals are scheduled for July 15, 2026, while the historic Finals Day will once again take place at Edgbaston on July 18, 2026, crowning the ultimate T20 champions of England and Wales.
